Tony Jeffries, Olympic medalist boxer, breaks down the real mechanics behind both versions of the hook punch, then shows the exact hook to the body that knocked out opponent after opponent throughout his career. 70 Must Know Boxing Combinations & Mittwork Tutorials https://youtu.be/5RBSntR6_os Breaking Down The Lead Hook: Thumb in, the classic way: turning the hook over raises your elbow and lets your shoulder follow through for serious power and it lands on a smaller target that makes your shots more accurate. The tradeoff is the extra rotation in your wrist, elbow and shoulder, which takes more time and carries a higher injury risk. Thumb up, the way Tony teaches it: keeping your thumb up cuts out that extra rotation completely making the punch faster and letting you throw multiple hooks in a row without resetting your arm. The lead hook to the body: leaning over with your weight on the front foot and turning your hips generates serious power, especially right after slipping a cross. From up close without the slip, Tony throws it more like an arm punch instead, using a setup where touching the opponent upstairs first gets their elbows to rise, opening a clear path to land the body shot clean.
