He spent thousands of dollars trying different recovery methods to help his body recover faster and more effectively. Before paying for these recovery methods, make sure you get enough quality sleep every night, warm up before training and stretch afterward. Whether you follow a boxer diet or train for general fitness, eat nutritious food and cut back on processed meals and sugary drinks. 5 Recovery Methods for Boxing or Fighting: 1. Ice Baths and Cryotherapy Cold water immersion means sitting in an ice bath or cold plunge for recovery after exercise. Tony found ice baths useful during training camps and believes handling the cold can also help you build a stronger mindset. Whole-body cryotherapy means standing in a chamber at extremely low temperatures for a few minutes. Sessions can cost hundreds of dollars, yet Tony felt no recovery benefit after trying it himself. 2. Massage Hands-on treatment works on tight muscles to help ease soreness after boxing training. Physiotherapy sessions with the Great Britain boxing team helped Tony feel better after demanding training. 3. Sauna Recovery Heat after training can help with muscle soreness and improve how recovered you feel in certain situations. Tony warns against using saunas to make weight and stresses drinking water to stay hydrated. 4. Recovery Supplements Recovery supplements aim to support the body’s repair process after hard training. Tony’s routine includes daily sachets from Do Not Age, with creatine and NAC among the ingredients in the Performance supplement. 5. Compression Boots Compression boots squeeze different parts of your legs with the idea of pushing blood and lymphatic fluid upward to improve circulation and help the body remove waste. They can feel relaxing and may ease soreness but Tony says the results for muscle recovery and performance fall short of the advertising.
