The super-middleweight world champion makes a bold prediction ahead of his highly anticipated showdown with the Mexican boxing superstar in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, declaring that he is ready to shock the boxing world. Speaking in an interview with DAZN ahead of Canelo Alvarez vs Christian Mbilli, the hard-hitting Cameroonian-born fighter discusses why he believes Canelo is vulnerable at this stage of his career, his confidence in securing a career-defining victory and his ambitions to become one of boxing’s all-time greats. With Canelo coming off his defeat to Terence Crawford, Mbilli is questioned about whether the Mexican superstar is past his prime and whether his relentless pressure and high-energy fighting style could prove decisive. Mbilli acknowledges that Canelo remains a dangerous opponent with tremendous punching power and counterpunching ability, but insists that this is the perfect opportunity to make his mark on boxing history. The Montreal-based fighter also reflects on his journey into professional boxing, revealing how problems on the streets led him to take up the sport at just 15 years old. From his early days in the gym to sharing the ring with some of boxing’s biggest names, Mbilli explains how boxing became his life and why he dreams of following in the footsteps of legendary fighters such as Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler. Mbilli also discusses his thrilling battle with Martinez, his aggressive fighting style, the advantages he believes he holds over Canelo and the prospect of celebrating a historic victory in Cameroon, France and Canada.
