“CANELO!” - Armando Reséndiz NAMES NEXT TARGET After 10-Day Notice Win

Armando Reséndiz speaks to Michelle Joy Phelps for Seconds Out after making a successful return to winning ways with a unanimous decision victory over Koen Mazoudier on the Sebastian Fundora vs Ermal Hadribeaj undercard in Las Vegas. Reséndiz stepped in on around 10 days’ notice to replace Jermall Charlo in the 10-round super-middleweight contest at The Cosmopolitan, producing an impressive performance despite the late call-up to get himself back into the win column. The victory was an important response from “El Toro” following his defeat to Jaime Munguia earlier this year, when Reséndiz lost the WBA super-middleweight world title in his first defence. Reséndiz had previously shocked the boxing world by defeating former world champion Caleb Plant via split decision in May 2025, a major upset which propelled him into the world-title picture at 168lbs. Speaking after his victory over Mazoudier, the Mexican declared: “El Toro is back,” and insisted he is ready to go after everything the super-middleweight division has to offer. Asked what comes next and whether he wants to pursue a rematch or another major fight, Reséndiz says he will trust his team and be ready for whatever opportunity arrives. But when pressed by Michelle to name a potential opponent, Reséndiz eventually drops the biggest name possible: Canelo Alvarez. Could another major opportunity now await Armando Reséndiz at 168lbs?
